This Congress results from a partnership between the MNA and the Institute of Art History at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (IHA, FCSH, NOVA). Aims to explore the relationship between the different artistic expressions in the ancient Roman Lusitania and how the pieces of art expresses religiosity in this roman province. Framed by the exhibition “RELIGIONS OF LVSITÂNIA. LOQVVNTVR SAXA” and “LUSITÂNIA ROMANA. ORIGIN OF TWO PEOPLE / LUSITANIA ROMANA. OF ORIGIN OF PUEBLOS”, at the National Museum of Archaeology, continues the events dedicated to art and culture during the Roman presence in this territory.
The Scientific Committee of the Congress will admit especially paper proposals focused on pieces from the collection of MNA showing the link between art and religion (http://www.matriznet.dgpc.pt/matriznet/home.aspx website).
Proposals must be submitted by March 30th, 2016, to congressomna@gmail.com, accompanied by a short summary (maximum 300 words) and a brief biographical note of the author. The Scientific Committee of the Congress report on the selection by early April. Communications are accepted in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Italian.
The texts of the papers may be submitted in the same official languages of Congress until September 30th, and its publication will be under peer review (blind peer review), in the journal O Arqueólogo Português, expected in 2017.
