The Colloquium on Roman Crete Conference is dedicated to discussing the late Hellenistic through to the Late Antique periods on Crete. Our aim is to bring together interested parties from all sectors to network and present their discoveries and research.

Those wishing to present papers in the Conference are invited to submit an abstract of 300-500 words. Abstracts can be sent by email to the conference secretariat at ac-roman-crete@nottingham.ac.uk from 1st February to 30th April 2016. Abstracts will be considered from delegates who are unable to attend but who would like their papers included in the conference packs. Confirmation of acceptance of papers will be made in early May 2016 when the final conference programme will be announced.


Abstracts should be submitted in English and should include the main issues addressed, the general research framework and how it relates to the conference theme. In particular we would ask presenters to consider the questions about Roman Crete that we are not asking, why these are important and how attacking these questions might lead us to new perspective and better understanding of Crete during these periods. Only one proposal per applicant should be submitted. With the submission presenters are asked to indicate the length of time required for their presentation. The maximum permitted presentation time will be 30 minutes.


The main language of the conference will be English. There will be conference fee of £30 per delegate (students and academic staff £25). A discount of 15% on the delegate fees will apply for all early registrations up to 31st August 2016.
