The Pac Rim 2017 Seminar in Roman Literature will be held at San Diego State University, San Diego, California, USA, from Monday, July 10 to Friday, July 14. The conference will begin the evening of July 10 with a special opening paper and reception; paper sessions will continue through Friday afternoon.

The thematic focus of this PacRim will be Roman Receptions. Papers are invited on such topics as: ***the reception of Roman literature in late antiquity, Renaissance and post-Renaissance Europe and/or the modern world ***the reception of Greek and Roman texts by Roman writers themselves ***the reception of the political and social world in Roman literary texts ***the reception of an inherited canon of Roman authors in modern scholarship ***translation as reception. Papers investigating other kinds of 'Roman Reception' are also strongly encouraged: the organizing theme offers sufficient liberty of interpretation so as to encompass as broad a range of personal research interests as possible. Abstract proposals (200-300 words) for papers (30 minutes maximum) should be sent to me at this email address. I'll provide a submission link into the web address below. Please have abstracts submitted by January 31, 2017. I am building a conference website at http://pacrim2017.sdsu.edu/ where I'll build a list of affordable hotels with convenient access to the campus as well as means of transportation to and from the airport and around town. Conference fee: $40.00 (or its currency equivalent) per person (which can be waived for those delivering papers) will help offset daily seminar costs. A fee reduction for students will be offered.
