The Faculty of Classics and The Queen’s College, University of Oxford, are pleased to announce a two-day International Graduate Conference in Greek Comedy in honour of Dr Angus Bowie, upon his retirement. The conference will be held on 20 & 21 May 2017 at Ioannou Centre (66 St Gilles) and aspires to bring together postgraduate scholars of Greek Comedy from across Europe. Angus’ colleagues and students are warmly invited to attend, to express our gratitude and appreciation for his substantial contribution to classical scholarship and teaching. Our confirmed keynote speakers are Professors Oliver Taplin and Michael Silk.

CALL:
PhD/DPhil (primarily) and Ma/MPhil/Mst students in Classics, Linguistics, Theatre Studies, or Ancient History and Archaeology with relevant specialization are invited to submit abstracts (200-300 words) of papers for twenty-minute presentations. To help us estimate the number of places, please register your interest to submit in advance, as early as possible (greekcomedy@classics.ox.ac.uk). Any aspect, period and/or poet of ancient Greek Comedy are welcome. Abstracts should be submitted by 24th December 2016 to the same email address. Include your name, institution, programme and year of study, thesis topic, and name of academic supervisor.
Once the conferees are confirmed, we will release information about attendants.
