CALL: To reflect KCL’s global research focus, partnerships, initiatives, and international student-body, AMPAH 2017 invites papers from postgraduate students of ancient history, including the history and historiography of Classical Greece and Rome, the ancient Near East and Egypt, Late Antiquity and the Byzantine Empire, and of comparable periods of Asian (Chinese, Indian, etc.), African, and Central-South American history. Note that the focus of AMPAH is history, not prehistory or archaeology. Papers should be no more than 20 minutes in length, and will be followed by 5 minutes of questions and discussion. Please send short abstracts not to exceed 300 words via email to AMPAH2017+abstracts@gmail.com by Friday 23 December 2016. We will accept submissions until 17:00 on this date and the deadline will be strictly enforced. All abstracts should be sent as an attachment in MS WORD .doc or .docx format. Please clearly indicate in the body of the email itself and on the abstract attachment the following information: your name, email address, departmental and university affiliation, and status (e.g. 3rd year PD student, etc.). AMPAH has traditionally been an inclusive conference where postgraduates and staff in ancient history network and share ideas in an informal environment. We will try our best to accommodate all those who wish to present papers, but since AMPAH is only a one-day conference, we reserve the right to be selective if necessary for reasons of time or topic. Decision emails will be sent out by Friday 11 January 2017. If you have any general enquiries regarding AMPAH 2017, please do not hesitate to e-mail us at AMPAH2017@gmail.com. Information regarding AMPAH registration will be sent out in late January of 2017. Registration will be free and refreshments and lunch will be provided. To accommodate same-day travel to London for all UK and Eire-based postgraduates, AMPAH’s programme will start at 11:00.
