CALL:

On behalf of the international academic committee and the Center for the Study of Christianity at the Hebrew University (CSC) we are pleased to announce that the next Origeniana will take place at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Mount Scopus, on June 25-29, 2017.

The theme of the conference will be: Origen's Legacy in the Holy Land–A Tale of Three Cities: Jerusalem, Caesarea and Bethlehem

You are invited to submit your title and abstract for approval (by the academic committee) via the online submission form, which are modifiable until February 28, 2017 . As not all of you work on Origen's legacy in the Holy Land, we decided to accept several papers and panels dealing with other topics relating to Origen, including his influence on Evagrius Ponticus and Rufinus. We also invite discussions of new perspectives on late antique Jewish-Christian interactions concerning religious polemics, biblical exegesis and perceptions of the Holy Land

Papers—restricted to one per person—may be presented in one of the following languages: English, French, Italian and German. Presentations should be 20 minutes long, to be followed by 10 minutes of discussion. We welcome suggestions for panel discussions (90 minutes) as well.

Please encourage young scholars and students to take part in the conference. The conference fee is 150 Euro. The fee will cover the participation in all sessions, dinner reception, coffee, and lunch during the conference (at the Maiersdorf Faculty Club). Students and post-doctorates are exempt from the conference fee and invited to all receptions and meals.

At this stage you may send your title and abstract without payment of the registration fee. In a forthcoming memo we will provide instructions on how and when to pay your fees. We are applying for funding and hope to be able to offer several travel scholarships for PhD students. We intend to provide further information about scholarships by March 2017.

Academic committee: Brouria Bitton-Ashkelony, Oded Irshai, Aryeh Kofsky, Christoph Markschies, Olivier Munnich, Hillel Newman, Lorenzo Perrone.
