The Egyptian Department and the Diagnostic Laboratory for Conservation and Restoration of the Musei Vaticani, in collaboration with all the team of the Vatican Coffin Project, are pleased to invite you to attend the ‘Second Vatican Coffin Conference’- The themes of the conference focus on decorated wooden coffins, with no time restriction:

• Funerary practices, iconography, symbolism, ideology, technology

• Conservation

• Diagnostic and technologies applied to the study of decorated wooden coffins

Registration forms must be submitted electronically to the Scientific Secretary by e-mail: coffinconference.musei@scv.va

Official replies to requests to attend will be sent out no later than 10 April 2017 together with instruction on how to pay the registration fee. Participants who do not intend to make a presentation will be accepted in order of receipt of their registration forms.

ConferenCe fee: 100 € (includes conference material, book of abstracts, morning coffee and buffet-lunch on the days of the conference, private visit to the Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo and its gardens, gala dinner in the gardens of Castel Gandolfo, and participation in all the events related to the conference).

Speakers are not required to pay the conference fee.
