CALL:

The Birmingham Assyriology Forum is pleased to announce we will be hosting our third annual Birmingham Assyriology Symposium in May of this year. We invite abstracts from postgraduate students and independent researchers on the theme of ‘Conflict in the Ancient Near East’. Possible topics could include (but are not limited to) political and religious conflict, conflict between specific political or historical figures, conflict in mythology and literature, conflict between different civilisations across the Ancient Near East, and the depiction of conflict in iconography and reliefs. We welcome contributions from postgraduates and researchers of all disciplines whose research falls within the scope of Ancient Near Eastern studies. Abstracts should be no more than 250 words in length, and should be submitted via email to <assyriology@contacts.bham.ac.uk>. The deadline for submission is the 7th of March. We are also planning to work with the Rosetta Journal to publish extended abstracts from the Symposium, which will be a great opportunity for speakers interested in publishing their research in an academic journal. If you would like to register your attendance to the Symposium, or have any questions regarding the submission process, please contact us at the above email address.
