Semana de Estudos sobre o Período Helenístico is a biannual event organized by the research group Hellenistica (CNPq / DLCV-FFLCH-USP), whose purpose is the promotion and diffusion in Brazil of recent works on the field of Hellenistic studies. In between 20th. and 21st. September 2017 it will take place its fifth edition, whose theme is Callimachean poetics and epigram. It will be held at Faculdade de Filosofia Letras e Ciências Humanas of the Universidade de São Paulo (FFLCH-USP). The seminar aims at exploring the definition of epigram as a poetic genre and the influence that Callimachus may have had on later epigrammatic poetry. We are honoured to announce that Richard Hunter (University of Cambridge) and Kathryn Gutzwiller (University of Cincinnati) are among the confirmed speakers.
Researchers interested in taking part of the Seminar may send abstract proposals until 15th. June 2017. All proposals will be examined by the Committee. All proposals must include:
