CALL:

In 2012, Dr Marius Alexianu (UAIC, Romania) made the first step towards establishing a new discipline, the Anthropology of Salt. A symposium organized in Iasi in the same year, in the framework of the EthnosalRo project, tested at the primary level the validity of the concept. Then, in 2015, the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi, Romania, was the guest of the First International Congress on the Anthropology of Salt. On that occasion it became clear that the Anthropology of Salt (archaeology, history, ethnology, linguistics and so on) has strong chances to establish itself as a recognized discipline. The attendance of established researchers from Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, China, Ivory Coast, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Mongolia, Nigeria, Romania, Spain, Republic of Moldova, Russia, Ukraine, Great Britain, and the USA, acknowledged it as such.

After the successful first meeting, we took it upon ourselves to organize the Second International Congress on the Anthropology of Salt, in the famous resort-town of Los Cabos, Baja California, Mexico.
