Ph.D. students and early career researchers conducting research on the history, archaeology and culture of the Peloponnese (with broad chronological and thematic parameters) are invited to submit proposals for posters discussing their research, for the conference on 'Gender and Identities in Peloponnesian Antiquity’ at the University of Nottingham on 22-23 June 2017. The conference runs under the auspices of the University On Nottingham Centre for Spartan and Peloponnesian Studies (CSPS). It is intended to bring together young scholars researching subjects relating to the understanding and presentation of gender and other identities in the ancient Peloponnese. The conference will provide students and early career researchers with a forum to share their research, and to encourage the exchange of ideas between young scholars researching different aspects and periods of the history, archaeology, and culture. Our call for papers closed several weeks ago, thanks to a healthy response of abstracts that now form the conference's programme. However, it is still possible to participate your work within the conference through the development of a poster. The only requirements are that the work on display involves the Peloponnese, and a theme of gender or identity. Work that encompasses more than the Peloponnese are welcomed, but we ask that the Peloponnese still features in some form on the poster. This conference is an interdisciplinary endeavour, and we welcome submissions from researchers working on a broad range of perspectives (classics, history, archaeology, political science, gender studies, sociology, psychology, iconography, reception studies, etc.) and chronological periods (Archaic, Classical, Hellenistic, Roman) related to gender and other identities in the Peloponnese. Ideally, posters should be A1 in size, but no larger. Posters will have the chance to be published, upon review, in an on-line conference volume through the CSPS website. Posters can be sent in advance or brought to the conference.
