CALL.15.11.2017: The Chicago-Yale Pentateuch Colloquium - Connecticut (CT, USA)
The Documentary Hypothesis for the composition of the Pentateuch has enjoyed a significant resurgence in the United States in the last decade, and the University of Chicago and Yale University have emerged as centers for this renewed research. This past February we held the first Pentateuch Colloquium, in Chicago. It was a great success, bringing together students and faculty for stimulating conversation and debate. This year the Colloquium will be held at Yale Divinity School on February 25-27, 2018. The aims of the Colloquium are to share cutting-edge research, to investigate central problems in the study of the Pentateuch, to interrogate theoretical and methodological issues, and to foster intellectual community and ongoing exchange

To these ends, the Colloquium will comprise a formal paper presentation session; a session devoted to smaller, informal presentations of problems; a session focused on issues of theory and method; and sessions discussing work produced in light of last year's Colloquium in Chicago. Each session will afford ample time for in-depth discussion, with additional time for conversation during meals and other unstructured time. The required application materials are as follows: 1. A letter of application describing the student's research interests in the Pentateuch; 2. A curriculum vitae; and 3. A letter of endorsement from the student's doctoral advisor. Up to eight students will be accepted to participate. All application materials, and any additional inquiries, should be sent to Joel Baden at mailto:joel.baden@yale.edu. Successful applicants will receive funds to cover the costs of attendance.
