CALL. 01.03.2018: The Intellectual Heritage of the Ancient Near East - Innsbruck (Austria)
For the first time the conference will combine a Rencontre Assyriologique Internationale with a Melammu Symposium. The organizing committee is particularly interested in welcoming lectures on the Ancient Near Eastern cultures and their cultural reception. Papers related to the main topic should ideally investigate the continuity, transformation, and diffusion of Mesopotamian and Ancient Near Eastern cultures through the western classical to the later Islamic times and modern worlds

We would like to remind you of the following deadlines:
Submission of titles and abstracts for posters and individuallectures: March 1, 2018
Reduced registration fee: March 31, 2018
Notification of acceptance: April 15, 2018
Poster Session and Prize:
We warmly invite the submission of poster proposals. Posters on workin progress of scholars in their early stage are particularly welcome.We encouraged you to consider this possibility to present your work.During the conference a RAI committee will designate the best poster,which will be awarded with the“Innsbruck Rencontre Best Poster Prize”.
Workshops and Sessions
During the conference 18 workshops will be organized. You can findtitles and abstracts of all individual workshops under https://www.uibk.ac.at/congress/rai_64/workshops.html.en.Sessions
The following sessions are scheduled:
(1) Digital Humanities combining the workshop The Munich Open-accessCuneiform Corpus Initiative (MOCCI): New Approaches to CuneiformStudies, organized by J. Novotny, N. Morello, and F. Weiershäuser (LMUMunich), and an ORACC Round Table, organized by S. Tinney (Universityof Pennsylvania), E. Robson (UCL), and J. Novotny (LMU Munich).
(2) Towards a History of Assyriology, organized by H. Neumann (WWUMünster) and S. Fink (University of Helsinki).
Guidelines for Workshops/Sessions Organizers and Speakers
To facilitate the attendance of different sessions, we kindly inviteorganizers and speakers of workshops to follow the conferenceschedule, all lectures should last no more than 20 minutes, withfurther 10 minutes for discussion. We also invite all the organizersand the speakers of the workshop and sessions to register as soon aspossible through the RAI website:https://www.uibk.ac.at/congress/rai_64/registration.html.en.
Titles and abstracts of the papers belonging to the workshops orsessions should be collected by the workshop/sessions organizers and submitted to rai64@uibk.ac.at by the end of April 2018.A
