The Research Centre „Dynamics of Jewish Ritual Practices in Pluralistic Contexts from Antiquity to the Present“ at the University of Erfurt (Germany) announces its fourth conference, which will run from October 24 through 26, 2018, and is entitled „Psalms in Ritual Practices in Pluralistic Contexts from Antiquity to the Present“. In terms of chronology, material from late antiquity and the middle ages will be given primary attention. The following researchers have already agreed to deliver a paper: Ruth Langer (Boston), Beate Ego (Bochum), Angela Kim Harkins (Boston), Rebecca Sebbagh (Erfurt), Susanne Talabardon (Bamberg), A.J. Berkovitz (Princeton), Günter Stemberger (Wien), Benedikt Kranemann (Erfurt), Jürgen Bärsch (Eichstätt-Ingolstadt), Harald Buchinger (Regensburg), Bill Rebiger (Hamburg), Ophir Münz-Manor (Ra’anana), Alan Cooper (New York), Isaac Kalimi (Universität Mainz), Mika Pajunen (Helsinki) und Andreas Haug (Würzburg).
During the conference, doctoral students are invited to present their research in short lectures. These lectures should be no longer than 15 minutes, 10 minutes of discussion will follow. Thematically, any topic surrounding the theme “Psalms and Ritual Practices” is welcome. The language of the conference is English.

Please send your name, your current position, and a short abstract of no more than one page including your sources and some bibliographical information by March 28, 2018. If you are chosen to present, we will provide for your accommodation in Erfurt and travel expenses
