This workshop will bring together scholars working on Latin literature of all kinds from ca. 100 to 700, in preparation for a new Cambridge History of Later Latin Literature. It is the final one in a series of four meetings over the course of the current academic year.

Anyone interested in this workshop is welcome and warmly invited. If you plan to come, please contact Aaron Pelttari (aaron.pelttari@ed.ac.uk) via email by 23 April to confirm your attendance. Funding was generously provided by the British Academy. The following scholars will discuss their work on the indicated topics:

  • Ian Fielding (Michigan), ‘Ostrogothic and Byzantine Italy’.

  • Thorsten Fögen (Durham), ‘Technical and encyclopaedic literature’.

  • Danuta Shanzer (Vienna) ‘Post-Roman Gaul’.
