The UWICAH Postgraduate Conference has traditionally offered students the opportunity to present their research in a friendly and supportive academic environment. It also provides excellent networking opportunities, so please feel free to attend without giving a paper.
While we welcome papers on all aspects of the ancient world, we are especially interested in receiving submissions relating to our theme ‘Conversations with the Other.’ This theme should be interpreted broadly and could address topics such as:
How did people interact with those who held religious, ethnic, social, gender, or sexual identities that might have been considered outside the norm?
To what extent did they interact?
How do researchers access marginalized voices/narratives?
How are marginalized groups represented in antiquity?
What about non-human subjects?
Papers will be 15 minutes followed by 5 minutes for questions and discussion. Please submit abstracts of approximately 250 words by 7 October 2018 to uwicah2018@gmail.com. Alongside your abstract, please also include your name, affiliation, and degree level. We will respond to all applicants shortly after the deadline.
There will be no conference fee and coffee/tea/lunch will be provided.
For any postgraduates who do not wish to present a paper, we will be sending out a Call for Delegates with further information at a later date.
