Dreams and Prophecies in ancient Mediterranean Basin - 13/11/2018, Aix-en-Provence (France)
The purpose of this conference is to bring together researchers working on dreams and oniromancy in different societies around the Mediterranean Basin during Antiquity. Given the significance of dreams in Antiquity, it seems important to highlight the characteristics of each civilization in order to establish similarities and differences. The dream is a means of communication privileged between men and gods that allows them to inform men about their destiny. Thus many texts studying the dream and interpreting them were written throughout the ancient Mediterranean. The day will be divided into three sessions: Worlds Greek and Roman, Anatolia and Mesopotamia and finally Near East, Egypt and North Africa.
