CALL. 01.12.2018: Midwest AOS and ASOR - South Bend (IN, USA)



Members of AOS and ASOR are invited to submit papers for the Midwest AOS and for ASOR member-sponsored panels. The meetings will be held in conjunction with the Midwest SBL meeting at St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana (i.e. South Bend, Indiana) from Friday Feb. 8 through Sunday Feb. 10. AOS and ASOR papers will be programmed on Saturday, unless there is reason to add a Sunday session, or speakers ask for a Sunday slot.

Papers from all fields of AOS and all areas covered by ASOR are welcome to submit proposals. Come try out papers you intend to give at the big meetings. Graduate students are welcome. We also will happily overlook of origin of anyone not technically from "THE MIDWEST" if he/she would like to give a paper. If there are questions about topics, contact JoAnn Scurlock at r-beal@uchicago.edu Questions about the meeting or location should be sent to the organizer, Stacy Davis: midwestsbl@gmail.com Registration is through the SBL's website [LINK]. The region has arranged for blocks of hotel rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn South Bend and the Inn at Saint Mary's, both of which are adjacent to the Saint Mary's campus. There are also many motels of varying qualities and prices just north of the college for those with cars. Please see the Midwest SBL hotel-information sheet or Google for more information. The conference rate at the conference hotels is available until January 8, 2019 at 5:00 p.m., and reservations must be placed by phone. We invite you to submit paper proposals for the regional meeting by Saturday, December 1, 2018. Program decisions will be communicated no later than January 8, 2019. Also, please note that paper proposals are submitted through an online form, on the SBL website. Please do not send paper proposals to JoAnn. Usually, papers are scheduled in thirty-minute time slots, ideally with twenty minutes of presentation and ten minutes of discussion. Registration for the meeting will again be available online at the SBL region’s website. Registration should open in early December 2018 and will close in late January 2019. (You will receive another e-mail later with updated registration information.) The region offers regular registration for $60, student registration for $25. Rates for spouse/partner attendees are also available in the registration process. We strongly encourage everyone to utilize the online registration option; a $15 fee will be added for late (on-site) registrations.
