Warwick Ancient Drama Festival - 25/01/2019, Warwick (England)


Supporting the Warwick Ancient Drama Festival, on the 25th of January the Department is offering a series of lectures and seminars specifically for school students to link in with Latin, Greek, Classical Civilisation, Ancient History, Drama and English syllabuses at GCSE and AS/A2 (no previous knowledge of the subject area or play will be expected).

12.15-1pm Option A: Dr Emmanuela Bakola: on ‘Why does Dionysus choose Aeschylus at the end of Frogs?’

12.15-1pm Option B: Professor C.W. Marshall (Professor of Classics, University of British Columbia) ‘Aristophanic comedy: serious laughter?’

12.15-1pm Option C: Dr David Fearn (Reader in Greek Language and Literature) on ‘Aristophanes up close’ (seminar/workshop)

12.15-1pm Option D: Dr Marchella Ward (Archivist/Researcher, Archive of Performances of Greek and Roman Drama, University of Oxford) on ‘Staging Aristophanic comedy’

1-2 pm – Lunch break for all
