We make public the call to receive papers proposals for the event “Visual melodies, musical poetry: musical antiquity” – 20th Edition of the Ancient History Conference of UFPel (Jornada de História Antiga da UFPEL – JHA), to be held parallel to the 1st International Colloquium of Ancient and Medieval Music, the 1st Brazilian Meeting of Studies on Music in Antiquity and 1st Reunion of the Brazilian Group of Studies on Music in Greco-Roman Antiquity and its Reception. Promoted by LECA (Laboratory of Studies on Ancient Pottery) and supported by the Graduate Program in History of UFPel, it will take place in Pelotas, Federal University of Pelotas, from June 03 to 07, 2019. Researchers of the most varied specialties are encouraged to contribute with their studies! Held since 1992, MUSIC will be the central theme of the JHA 2019. Music in different cultures of Antiquity and the Middle Ages. In an interdisciplinary perspective, we will observe several interrelations, such as the connections between music, poetry, dance and theater, as well as the contributions of various disciplines, including History, Archeology, Epigraphy, Literature and Ancient Languages, Philosophy, Arts and Musical Theory, with special attention to images and materialities as research sources for knowledge of ancient and medieval music. Its main goal is to promote the contact and dialogue among researchers, both consolidated and emerging researchers, who dedicate themselves to music in Antiquity and Medieval periods, either as a central subject or as a component of their studies. The program includes studies and presentations related to the performance of (or from) the music of Antiquity and the Middle Ages. In addition to stimulating new research in the area, the XX JHA aims to: foster interdisciplinary research networks, with the creation of the Brazilian Group of Studies on Music in Greco-Roman Antiquity and its Reception, which in the future may hold its meetings in other locations; and produce a thematic collection, about music in Antiquity and Medieval, as a result of the presented papers. Considering that it is the first academic event organized in Brazil on music in Antiquity, we propose a comprehensive set of thematic areas:
1 – Music and Religion 2 – Music and Performance 3 – Music and Image 4 – Music and Thought 5 – Music and Myth 6 – Music, identity and interculturality 7 – Reception of Greek and Roman music in the modern and contemporary world 8 – Music and other interfaces

Hacemos pública la llamada para la recepción de propuestas de comunicaciones para el evento “Melodías visuales, poesías musicales: Antiguedades sonoras” – XX Jornadas de Historia Antigua de la UFPEL, a realizarse paralelamente con el I Coloquio Internacional de Música Antigua y Medieval; el I Encuentro Brasileiro de Estudios sobre la Música en la Antiguedad; y el 1er Reunión del Grupo Brasileño de Estudios de Musica en la Antiguedad Grecoromana y su Recepción. Promovido por el LECA (Laboratorio de Estudios sobre la Cerámica Antigua) y apoyado por el Programa de Pos-Graduación en Historia de la UFPel, ocurrirá en Pelotas, en la Universidad Federal de Pelotas, entre los días 03 y 07 de junio de 2019. Investigadores de las más variadas especialidades son estimulados a contribuir con sus estúdios! Realizadas desde 1992, la JHA 2019 tendrá como tema central la MÚSICA, en diferentes culturas de la Antiguidad y del Medioevo. En perspectiva interdisciplinar, obsérvanse las varias inter-relaciones, como las conexiones entre música, poesia, danza y teatro, mas allá de las contribuciones de várias disciplinas, entre las cuales, História, Arqueología, Epigrafía, Literatura y Lenguas antiguas, Filosofia, Artes e Teoría musical, com atención especial a las imágenes y materialidades como fuentes para el conocimiento de la música antigua y medieval. Tiene como objetivo principal promover la aproximación y el diálogo de investigadores consolidados o emergentes, que se dediquen a la música en la Antiguedad y el Medioevo, tendiéndola como objeto central o como componente de sus estudios. La programación contempla estudios y presentaciones relacionadas a la performance de (o a partir de la) música de la Antiguedad y del Medievo. Más allá del estímulo a las nuevas investigaciones en el área, la XX JHA tiende a: fomentar redes de investigación interdisciplinares, con la creación del Grupo Brasileño de Estudios de Musica en la Antiguedad Grecoromana y su Recepción, que en el futuro podrá realizar sus reuniones en otras localidades; y producir uma coletánea temática, sobre música en la Antiguedad y el Medioevo, como resultado de los papers presentados. Considerando que es el primer evento académico organizado en Brasil sobre la música en la Antiguedad, proponemos un conjunto amplio de ejes temáticos:
