The Impact of Empire on Roman Landscapes - 12-13-14-15/06/2019, Mainz (Germany)
The conference "The Impact of Empire on Roman Landscapes" deals with the influence of the Imperium Romanum on landscapes. The focus is on the world outside of cities and on the question, how a certain space could become "Roman". What kind of influence did Rome have on the elaborisation and organisation of space, on symbolism and on the literal, political and legal creation of Roman landscape? How did the cultivation of land, which belonged to the Roman sphere of influence, change?
