BURSARIES:

In 2020, the Classical Association is continuing its tradition of offering bursaries, but will be operating a slightly different set of schemes from previous years, as detailed below.

UK Classics Departments

Each UK and Irish Classics Department (or similar) has been invited to award bursaries on behalf of the Classical Association up to a maximum of four individuals. Each bursary consists of a reduced conference fee of £29 only (payable by the individual) and up to three nights’ hotel accommodation. Bursary holders are responsible for the costs of their travel.

Heads of Department (or equivalent) have already been contacted by the CA and will run their own internal nomination and selection processes, with their nominations due with the CA by January 31, 2020.

UK-based Schoolteachers

The Classical Association is offering any UK-based schoolteacher (or Classics PGCE student) attendance at the whole conference for a reduced conference fee of £29 only. There is no limit on the number of schoolteachers to whom this concession is available. Schoolteachers are responsible for the costs of their travel and accommodation.

Individuals Not Affiliated to a UK Classics Department

The Classical Association is also offering bursaries to people whose papers have been accepted, but who are not affiliated to a UK or Irish Classics department and who lack necessary funding. The bursary will comprise a reduced conference fee of £29 only (payable by the individual) and up to three nights’ hotel accommodation. Individuals are responsible for their own travel costs.

Applicants should apply on a form available on request from office@classicalassociation.org and return their application by 31 January, 2020.
