Philosophy of Music: Perspectives on Antiquity - 11-12/07/2019, Durham (England)
The two-day workshop ‘Philosophy of Music – Perspectives on Antiquity’ will take place from 11-12 July 2019 at Durham University (The Castle, Senate Suite). It brings together scholars specialising in ancient music with experts in (the history of) the philosophy of music. The aim is to create a platform for discussing how philosophers from the Early Modern period until the 21st century took their inspiration from, and in this process created their own ideas of, ancient Greek music and central concepts in ancient musical thought.
