The Department of Archaeology at the University of Cambridge is pleased to host the third Cambridge Annual Student Archaeology Conference (13-15th September 2019). This year’s conference theme, “New Frontiers”, invites undergraduate and graduate students alike to share their own innovative research and views in archaeology, history, cultural heritage and biological anthropology. With the theme “New Frontiers”, we are especially interested in papers that re-examine archaeological datasets or artefacts in new ways, challenge conventional views in archaeology and/or present novel ideas to the field. However, papers of all and any type are welcome and actively encouraged!

he Cambridge Annual Student Archaeology (CASA) Conference is a unique platform designed for archaeology students of all levels to share and discuss their research. CASA aims to provide an accessible, relaxed, and engaging environment for students to introduce their work and receive constructive feedback, allowing them to refine vital presentation and communication skills before entering the world of professional academia. Students are invited to submit a paper on their research, to be presented (by poster or podium presentation) at one of six themed sessions running at this year’s conference. Prizes will be awarded to the best presentation from a student at each level (Undergraduate, Masters and PhD). Delegates will also have the opportunity to attend a range of extracurricular activities arranged around the conference, promoting an archaeological event which is inclusive, reflective, and above all, fun. Our session themes are: 1 – “Animal-Human Interactions in the Past: Becoming, Making, Relating” 2 – “Public Archaeology in the Light of Global Politics: New Challenges and Opportunities” 3 – “Past and Future – Lifestyle and Inequality” 4 – “Strength in numbers: combining old datasets to explore new questions” 5 – “New Frontiers in the Archaeology of Buildings” 6 - "New Frontiers in Archaeological Sciences: Trowel-blazing at its cutting edge?" 7- Poster Session Abstracts are due July 28th, 2019.
