The Jewish Law Association and Concordia University are jointly sponsoring a one-day regional conference on the topic of “Judaism and Gender”. Presentations may include discussion of gender as a construct in Jewish law from antiquity to the present, theoretical or applied approaches to gender, feminism and legal authority, masculinity and Jewish law, and expressions of gender diversity and sexuality in Jewish legal debates and in operative law. The Jewish Law Association particularly encourages the active involvement of scholars from historically underrepresented groups in the study of Jewish Law. Interested participants should submit a 250-word abstract to judaismandgenderconcordia@gmail.com by 27 September. The conference final program will be available 4 October.
