CALL. 07.02.2020: Cicero Away Day - Birmingham (England)
The department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Birmingham is pleased to announce the call for papers for the Cicero Away Day – 9th June 2020 at University of Birmingham. Cicero Away Days offer an informal and friendly forum in which to present papers on any aspect of Cicero’s life, works, and reception. Therefore, we invite papers on all Ciceronian genres and intergeneric submissions are welcome. This particular iteration of the Cicero Away Day is being organised by AHRC Midlands4Cities (M4C) students, Ben Salisbury (University of Birmingham) and Ashley Chhibber (University of Nottingham), in conjunction with Dr Henriette van der Blom (University of Birmingham). Due to this close association with the M4C Doctoral Training Partnership, we particularly encourage applications from doctoral students at M4C institutions.

CALL:
We intend for the conference to comprise three papers delivered by PhD candidates and three papers delivered by scholars who have received their doctorates. Postgraduate papers will have academic respondents and papers delivered by academics will have postgraduate respondents. In this way, we hope to encourage discussions between students and more senior scholars as well as across institutions and genres.
Those interested in delivering a paper at this conference should submit an abstract for their paper to BXS834@student.bham.ac.uk by 7th February 2020. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and papers should last no longer than 20 minutes.
