CALL:
The Pacific Partnership in Late Antiquity is an initiative that provides a forum for scholars from countries bordering the Pacific to meet and discuss their research in Late Antiquity. The scope of topics is defined broadly but aims to stay within the chronological range of Late Antiquity as defined by Peter Brown, that is, 200-800 CE. There is no theme. Papers (20 minutes in length) are delivered in English and are single stream. We invite papers on any topic in the literature, history, religion, philosophy and material culture in this time period, whether purely text based, archaeological or using new theoretical perspectives. Join a group of 30-40 colleagues with a passion for Late Antiquity. Abstracts of up to 300 words are to be submitted to Wendy Mayer (Postgraduate.Research@alc.edu.au) by February 15, 2020. We are pleased to announce that the keynote speaker in 2020 will be Prof. Edward Watts, Alkiviadis Vassiliadis Endowed Chair in Byzantine Greek History & Professor of History at the University of California, San Diego. More information about registration and accommodation will be available soon on the conference webpage. Small scholarships will be available to postgraduate students thanks to a generous grant from the Australasian Society for Classical Studies.
