XI Cicero Away Day - 09/06/2020 (Online)
The department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Birmingham is pleased to announce the call for papers for the Cicero Away Day – 9th June 2020 at University of Birmingham. Cicero Away Days offer an informal and friendly forum in which to present papers on any aspect of Cicero’s life, works, and reception. Therefore, we invite papers on all Ciceronian genres and intergeneric submissions are welcome. This particular iteration of the Cicero Away Day is being organised by AHRC Midlands4Cities (M4C) students, Ben Salisbury (University of Birmingham) and Ashley Chhibber (University of Nottingham), in conjunction with Dr Henriette van der Blom (University of Birmingham). Due to this close association with the M4C Doctoral Training Partnership, we particularly encourage applications from doctoral students at M4C institutions.

We will be running the event via Zoom, and will be building in time for networking 'breakout rooms' during the lunch break and after the end of the event. We are very pleased by the number of scholars from around the world who have been able to register now that we have transitioned to an online event.

The Away Day will commence at 11.00 and conclude by 17.00 BST; each paper will be followed by a response from the session chair, and will then be opened up to questions from the audience. We have an exciting list of speakers (below), with a strong postgraduate element, and we hope that many of you will join us for a day of interesting discussions about Cicero's life and work.
