CALL:
This workshop will advance the comparative exploration of three corpora of ancient historiography, 1-2 Chronicles, Babylonian Chronicles, and Herodotus, and to this end will pay attention to the following matters: the underlying assumptions, basic world-shaping conceptualizations on which these works were grounded; the generative grammars at work in these historiographical texts; and the interrelation between genre, social location, and historical contingency. The purpose will be to assess/reject the possibility of cross-influences between these three corpora. In particular, the view that the Yehudite Book of Chronicles was influenced by Herodotus’ Histories will be assessed afresh and possible influences from the Babylonian Chronicles onto the Yehudite ones will be explored. We invite the submission of papers dealing with anyone of these aspects. EABS submission deadline is 20th February 2020. The Conference is 3rd–6th August 2020 at the University of Wuppertal (Germany). Submit via the EABS website: https://www.eabs.net Sylvie Honigman, Caroline Waerzeggers, and Ehud Ben Zvi
