For the Stoics, the persuasive is linked to the representation (phantasia) of an object, grasped by reason that grounds true thinking. To elucidate the nature of this link we ask three fundamental questions: What makes logical propositions and arguments persuasive? What are the mental factors that allow people to perceive something as persuasive? Is persuasion a genuine part of the Stoic taxonomy of representation? Answering these questions provides a clearer understanding of ancient Stoicism, while also enriching our understanding of the notion of persuasion today. We invited papers related to these questions from established and early career researchers. PhD students and Early Career Researchers, especially, are invited to present a short, 30-minute papers related to the notion of persuasion and phantasia in ancient Stoicism. Please send a 300-word abstract by 30th March to Aldo Dinucci (aldodinucci@gmail.com). Notification of acceptance of papers by 10 April.
