We invite the participants to delve into some of the following topics:


  • Truncated lives? challenges, reflection and response to a catastrophic event: wars, genocides, earthquakes, tsunamis, pandemics, famines, etc.

  • Romans facing adversity.

  • New approaches to daily habits. The perception of unexpected events as an opportunity.

  • Leadership and political changes after moments of crisis.

  • Trade-offs of the moment: impoverishment versus enrichment.

  • Strategies and challenges in public-private management and measures for economic-social recovery. Intellectual reflection on a crisis and its consequences.

  • The reception of disasters and/or crises in the history of Rome.

Notification of acceptance: 19.11.2020

Final schedule of accepted contributions: 11/20/2020

Online conference: 16-17.12.2020.


If you are interested in submitting a contribution, please send us an abstract that does not exceed 250 words (including the title), together with your affiliation and email. Please send it to us by email: ancongress2020@gmail.com before 11.16.2020. Registration for the congress is free and a certificate of participation will be given to those who require it.


The conference will be held virtually using common and simple software. Presentations will be limited to ca. 25 minutes and will be digitally archived for later publication on a free access platform. If any of the participants wish to present their proposal by sending the conference prior to the day of the congress in an audiovisual format, this request will be taken into account by the organizers, who wish to minimize the impact of Covid-19 on these academic procedures in order to promote significant debates in our scientific field.


Accepted languages: English, Italian, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
